A Month of Prayer and Praise For the month of September we decided to detour from our normal daily Bible reading schedule to focus on the book of Psalms. Even though all books of the Bible are vitally important and interesting to read, I have found the book of Psalms to be such a wonderful book, full of prayer, praise and encouragement. In times of joy, in times of struggle and in the midst of a storm, I have turned time and time again, to read the Psalms as a prayer or a song of praise to my beloved, to my God.
I encourage everyone to take time to read this glorious book and see how it will touch your life. Each one of us has from one time or another found ourselves seeking to praise God or just seeking God in prayer. When we look at how David, Moses, Asaph and others declared their love, their trust, and sought God for their every need, it makes us all the more desire to have that kind of relationship with God. What we need to realize is that these great men of God desired to please God with their praise and fought every battle upon their knees in prayer. We too, can seek to not only come to God in our time of need, but to give Him the desire of His heart, which is ourselves and the pleasure of hearing our voices raised in songs of praise to Him.
The book of Psalms is actually a book of worship, a hymnal if you will, full of songs that are to be sung with or without music. Not everyone is a musician or a great singer, but God just wants to hear your voice. Read or sing the Psalms aloud, from your heart, and you will feel the presence of the Almighty. If for nothing else, read them to encourage yourself and to bring yourself closer to the One who loves you. Spend this season, this month, in a time of continuous prayer and praise. See and feel what wonderful joys are to be had as you sit at His feet and explore these songs of prayer and praise to our beloved Savior. | ||||
